5 senses SWAP and Friday's snapshot

we had our first monthly SWAP (Stations With a Purpose) of the school year Friday.
our theme was 5 Senses and Ants.
we talked about the sense of touch in my classroom. We discussed how we use our hands to touch and ants use their antennae.
the students stuck their hand into five feely boxes and used their sense of touch to identify the objects.

the students talked about the sense taste with Ms. Kim and got to make a special snack!

the students used their sense of smell in Ms. Brooke's room. they were blindfolded and asked to identify the smells of coffee, apple, orange, and lemon.

and in Miss Brittany's room, the students made antennae hats so they could 'hear' in the dark. They then closed their eyes and listened to a variety of different sounds and guessed what they were.

we also did our Clifford Magazine on sharing and taking care of our things.
the students had to find hidden crayons and circle them for the smartboard game...

and on the paper version.

to end our mini-study on ants, we had a special ants on a log snack on the front lawn.
thank you to Maddox's mom for providing the food!

well, Ms. Kim's class raised the most money at the book fair. so her friends got to wrap Ms. Annie like a mummy!

but we all got to join in on the fun too!

even the work studies got in on the fun!

I just love that mummy!
(and she's smiling under all that tp, too!)
