today's snapshot

This morning the students had Science with Miss Jenna. They went on a nature walk around the school and then created leaf rubbings in the Science Lab. We watched the eBook Crazy Pizza Day. The students loved this book! Ask them about some of the crazy pizzas we saw. We also finished up apple week with The Apple Pie Tree. This book was a great tie-in to our apple cycle sequencing from yesterday!

Our question of the day:
This afternoon's centers included journal drawings of Johnny Appleseed...

and played the Apple Math Mat with Ms. Brittany (the students rolled the die and put the corresponding amount of apples on the tree). This mat and other thematic mats can be found at Me and Marie's blog that I mentioned in yesterday post {here}.

NEXT WEEK FINISHES UP OUR BEGINNING OF THE YEAR STUDY.
WEDNESDAY IS DANCE AND GYM
THURSDAY IS PIZZA DAY, MUSIC, CONNER'S BDAY, AND UWA VS. MIDWESTERN STATE 6:30 PM
FRIDAY IS SCIENCE, WEAR RED FRIDAY, AND THE TEACHERS WILL BE ATTENDING THE EARLY CHILDHOOD CONFERENCE AT UWA
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

today's post

What an action packed morning! We had volunteers from all athletic departments visit us today for Hero Day during our book fair week. Here are a few:
Mr. Robert from the UWA Football Team

Miss Sharlie

Mr. Kendrick Office (KO)- he played football at UWA and then went on to play for the Buffalo Bills. Super nice guy!

Mr. Seth from the UWA Football Team

Miss Ashleigh from the UWA Women's Soccer Team

Mr. Jacquese from the UWA Football Team

And this is what the school looked like for Hero Day!
The students said "Why didn't you dress up today?" Tripp said, "All you had to do was buy a costume Ms. Jaysa." True enough. However, being as we live in a small town, there are not an abundance of stores that carry costumes;even a month before Halloween. So my response: "I am! I am Su-per
Tea-cher!" Which led to lots of laughter and then a creation of my full title.

Try saying that 10 times fast in a super hero voice!

This afternoon we worked on our books some more...

practiced cutting skills with apple patterns...

and practiced cutting, pasting, and sequencing skills with apple cycle sequencing.

I found these apple activities {here} on Me and Marie's blog. It's an awesome resource!

Happy Birthday, Johnny Appleseed!!!

This morning we fingerpainted E's...

and went to gymnastics and dance.

This afternoon at snack we celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday by making apple pies!
Our ingredients:
First we scooped apples into our crusts...

then we added some whipped cream to the top...

and our favorite part, eating them!

Happy birthday, Johnny Appleseed!
We also graphed:

The teachers will be supporting different causes each week on Wednesday. This month we have worn shirts that support Ms. Kaley's trips to Africa (147 Million Orphans) and have worn purple in support of Alzheimer's research. Today we wore yellow in support of our troops who protect our country and its precious freedom. It was also Hat Day for the Book Fair this week.

If you will notice behind us, we have a world map on the wall. We will be displaying postcards from all over the world so on your trips, vacations, etc... please pick us up a postcard!
