today's snapshot

We started off the morning learning about Groundhog Day. We read Go to Sleep, Groundhog.
"It's autumn and time for Groundhog to sleep until Groundhog Day, but he cannot fall asleep! Maybe a little walk will make him sleepy. When he steps outside his burrow, he's in for some surprises. After all his nocturnal wanderings, will Groundhog be able to wake up for his big day?"

Then the students voted on whether or not the groundhog saw his shadow. I found this precious printable at Smedley's Smorgasbord of Kindergarten's site. Check him out!

The girls were super mad when I told them the groundhog did not see his shadow. Just because they were wrong! lol I, on the other hand, will welcome spring with open arms.

We also continued our clothing conversation today by learning about looms and discussing how our clothing felt.
We read The Paper Bag Princess, too!

"The Princess Elizabeth is slated to marry Prince Ronald when a dragon attacks the castle and kidnaps Ronald. In resourceful and humorous fashion, Elizabeth finds the dragon, outsmarts him, and rescues Ronald --- who is less than pleased at her un-princess-like appearance."

We learned how to write Rr's the correct way.
