yesterday's snapshot

after our Morning Meeting, we began practicing writing Bb.

we learned a new vocabulary word today: tempo. we used streamers and moved them according to the tempo of the drum beat.

we watched The Kissing Hand on YouTube and talked about feeling scared, which is another vocabulary word for the week.

our question of the day:

we also had our second read-aloud for Wemberly Worried. we discussed why we sometimes get scared, especially at school, and what we should do when we do feel scared.

the students were reintroduced to the Cozy Corner, which is a place for them to spend some quiet time if feeling sad, ill, angry, etc...

we learned the nursery rhyme One, Two, Buckle My Shoe and the students created their own version!

centers for the afternoon: computer center...

jumbo dominoes...

dramatic play...

Lincoln logs...

and the students were introduced to daily journals.
today's topic was: Draw how you feel when you are scared.

the students listened to When The Relatives Came and then made a Helping Hands wreath.
first the students traced their handprints...

then they cut out their handprints...

and now we have an awesome HANDmade wreath!

Please send the following by Friday:

* a baby picture for each student to share and talk about.
* an example of environmental print for our Word Wall beginning with the letter Bb. Environmental print is the print on road signs, restaurants, cereal boxes, and other places in the environment. The word "stop" on a stop sign or the name "McDonald's" on the sign for the fast food restaurant. Environmental print is the first introduction most children have to reading. Have a letter Bb hunt around your house with your child and see what you might find to bring J
