today's snapshot

yesterday afternoon, Dr. Satcher's class stopped by to play games with us.
there was lots of laughter and fun!

we fingerpainted the letter Zz in between dance and gymnastic shifts this morning.

and we also worked on recognizing shapes and cutting by making a shape flower. the students had to cut out the shapes and create a flower with the pieces. there were hearts for leaves, triangles for petals, a circle for the middle, a rectangle for the stem, and a cylinder for the container.

we learned what living and non-living meant and then brainstormed a list of each. this is an easy concept for this group! :)

this afternoon, the students traveled to the writing center, completed their plant journals, and practiced counting and deciding which group had more objects.

we also finished our April bulletin board which is about our upcoming unit, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

thanks to Miss Hunter for her help on completing the crafts with the kids. The students made Loraxes from styrofoam cups, cotton balls, q-tips, and paint...
fish using toilet paper tubes and paint...
and bears from paper plates and cardboard circles donated by one of our parents.
we even made our own recycled border! I traced scallops on magazine pages and the students cut them out.

and I even used magazine pages and the Cricut to cut out our letters!
the artwork around the bulletin board was created by the students using a toilet paper tube as a painting tool.
