we continued our discussion on trees today. we read

"THE GIVING TREE for our time.

Once there was a grand old tree, whose roots sank deep into the earth and whose arms reached high into the sky. Every spring the grand old tree flowered and bore cherries for the squirrels and birds that made their homes in her leafy branches. And every year, seeds from the tree scattered in the wind, along with many millions of leaves. Mary Newell DePalma creates an emotional tale of life and renewal, of nature's bounty and quiet balance, illustrated with simple images made powerful with vivid colors and moving compositions."

"A told B,
and B told C
"I'll meet you at the top
of the coconut tree."
Countless children -- and their parents -- can joyfully recite the familiar words of this beloved alphabet chant. The perfect pairing of Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault's lively rhymes, and Caldecott Honor artist Lois Ehlert's bright, bold, cheerful pictures made Chicka Chicka Boom Boom an instant hit and a perennial favorite."

our question of the day:
Are you taller than this tree?

and we played the name dance. the students could choose to show us what their name dance looked like. fun!

we wore the color grey for "wear it wednesday" this week is in honor of those who suffer or have suffered from diabetes.
