Friday's snapshot

we practiced one last day on Ww on the smartboard.

we also spent the day learning about dental health.
we learned all about the tooth fairy from Miss Allie...

and then learned to play a "Tooth Hunt" game. we went all over the school looking for the right tooth!

and then Miss Allie and Miss Jimeka helped us make our own sets of marshmallow teeth :)

then we discussed foods that were good for our teeth, bad for our teeth, and why.
each student was given a picture of a food and had to decide if they put it on the happy, healthy tooth or the sad, cavity tooth.

to end our buildings unit and begin our water pipe unit, I purchased some props for the students to create a car wash (buckets, empty spray bottles, sponges, and towels). they even made the sign!

stay tuned for pictures of them washing the bikes at open play :D

Happy Heart Day!

we played a fun Rolling Hearts game!
the students took turns rolling the die, rolling 5 times each.
they had to graph each roll on their data sheet.
after 10 rolls, the students had to analyze their data and decide which heart was rolled the most and the least.

To finish up our unit on buildings, today in ROD the students made buildings out of marshmallows and various sized craft sticks. They discussed the importance of building a good foundation or the building wouldn't stand up. The students saw this first hand and were also able to see how it was important that the sides were even and sturdy to hold up the ceiling. The students did a great job constructing unique houses and buildings, and they were very proud of their construction!
