Wednesday's snapshot

we practiced writing Nn's with fingerpaint this morning...

and also created our Traveling Gingerbread Men.
our class is involved in a very fun and exciting project based on the book The Gingerbread Man retold by Jim Aylesworth. we do this project every fall and we hope that each gingerbread man can now visit his friends by traveling in an envelope.

in this project, the students make paper gingerbread men and mail them to friends and relatives. we are sending home the gingerbread men this week for you to select a friend or relative who will participate in this fun activity. each class will keep track of where Gingerbread Man has been by marking the map we have in our classroom when we receive the letters from your selected person. we hope that you will help us with this project by sending Gingerbread Man to another city and/or state. our goal is to learn about many different places and marking his travels on our school map.

I saw this door on Facebook this weekend and just had to have it.
Miss Hunter looked at my pic and got busy!

this morning we sang and made up motions for "This Is the Way We Get Dressed." we talked about sequence ie socks before shoes, toothpaste on toothbrush before brushing teeth, underwear before pants (that one got a giggle). Archie also brought in pictures of family events to observe the special clothing.
here are a few:

Wednesday's snapshot

In between gymnastics and dance sessions, we fingerpainted some K's this morning.

Some box buildings were built this morning, too.

The students also wrote about what they would build with boxes in their journals.

This afternoon, the students made their traveling gingerbread men which will be sent home today. Please mail the man to a friend or relative. They will keep him and record their adventures and then mail him back to us so we can see what he has been up to and place him on our school map. More info will be with the gingerbread man in your child's mailbox.

Gingerbread Man Sort

We played the Gingerbread Man Sort game in one of our learning centers this afternoon. The template came from Making Learning Fun's site. Check them out! The students had to match the icing on the cookie to the corresponding plate.

We also did a Number 1 Recognition Sheet. I put my own twist to the sheet found at School Sparks website. They have lots of great ideas! The students used a bingo dot marker and marked all the number 1's they could find.
