today's snapshot

Today we continued our discussion of families. We reread Love Is a Family and counted the number of members for each family. Then we counted the number of members in our own family.

We are still practicing writing our first names correctly this week. Here is our daily sign-in sheet the students use every morning when they get to school.

The students also went to their first music class and learned some new songs with Ms. Poole. Our music time is every Thursday 10:30-11 am. We did a little rhythm making ourself today with Move to the Beat. The students had to listen to the tempo and dance either fast or slow.

Can you make music with a piece of paper?

Yes you can!

The students wrote in their journal about a vocabulary word from Gary and Harry and then learned step by step how to draw a turtle. :)

Our vocabulary words from Gary and Harry: softy, adventure, explore, hull, algae, gasping, choking, Heimlich maneuver and our writing center this afternoon

Z step up

This afternoon we practiced tracing our names. I use Handwriting Worksheet Maker to create practice sheets for my students periodically. You can use print style, D-Nealian style, or cursive style and can print names, sentences, single words, multi-words, and paragraphs.

The computer center was also open this afternoon.

The art center was also open but I will share it tomorrow. We made our May bulletin board props. :D

student sign-in

Just wanted to share how the students are now signing in. I saw this in our curriculum director's files and decided to try it. This way, they see how it it handwritten and provides a model.
