last week's snapshot

many, many apologies, parents.
I went from being able to blog almost everyday to just finding the time to blog by the end of the week. but it's also a good thing because I love being this busy with your children!

you should start to notice that sight word watches are coming home every Monday now.
throughout the week, I will ask them what their sight word is, how to spell it, etc...
some weeks we will have 2 :)

we talked about different ways the students can help their families and discussed ways to be a helper at home. each student created a “helping hands” poster showing pictures of things they can do for their family. they are to put these up on the fridge as a reminder that they can help out, too!

we had 2 birthdays on September 2nd!
our first party was for Kayla!
happy birthday, Kayla!

and our second party was for Grayson!
happy birthday, Grayson!

our UWA Nursing student friends stopped by to teach us the correct way to wash our hands.

each student applied glitter germ-x and played Simon Says to show how the smallest of touches can spread germs (glitter) to our friends!

then the students saw how long they really need to wash their hands with soap and water to remove all the germs (glitter) that like to stick around!

they had to have a pic of their awesome Solo cup building :)

journal writings for the week:

what is your favorite thing to do with your family?

draw your family portrait.

how do you help out at home?

what is your favorite thing to do with your friend?

Mr. Bryan and Miss Emily from the Study of the Blackbelt stopped by and the students had a blast looking at different animal skins and playing different games like Wildlife Bingo below.
we had the opportunity to look at different animal hides including a very large beaver, a white tail deer, and a gray fox. we learned that the gray fox is able to climb trees but a red fox is not.

we also checked out a forest scene and became investigators. Mr. Bryan wanted us to use clues to figure out which animals went into the forest and which animals came out. we think the rabbit and clever fox went in, but the clever fox ate the rabbit!

Mr. Bowen has been working hard with us every Friday teaching us how to say our body parts, names of fruit, and the students are learning how to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!

in the library, we read "One Hundred Is A Family" with Ms. Ross. she had hidden numbers all over the library. we had to identify and find the numbers hidden in the room as she read about the number.

we ended our week with a big birthday party. all of the classes were invited to celebrate with one of Ms. Alison's friends. we shared cupcakes, animal crackers, chips, and cotton candy.
happy birthday, Toryan!
