Monday's snapshot

we started the morning by practicing the correct formation of Uu.

we also discussed blueprints and floor plans which were generously donated by Rob's family.

we then walked around the school observing the rooms, doors, etc... that we saw on the floor plans and made notes.

we came back to the classroom to discuss our notes.

the students told me what words they needed to label their floor plans.

we completed our individual floor plans...

and created a larger floor plan of the school as a group.

here's a closer look at the floor plans we first observed.

we also looked at the floor plan used as our evacuation plan.

before limited centers, we learned a song about and watched a YouTube video of the 2014 announcement in Pennsylvania on Groundhog Day.

Miles also wanted to know what groundhogs eat, so we researched that online as well. in case you didn't know, they "eat wild grasses and other vegetation, including berries and agricultural crops, when available.Groundhogs also eat grubs, grasshoppers, insects, snails and other small animals."

during limited centers, the students had free time with no-ends...

played a fun groundhog game on Starfall...

explored the sand table...

and wrote in our journals about what we learned about Groundhog Day.
"They eat worms."

"If he sees his shadow, we have 6 more weeks of winter."

you can find the free Groundhog paper here.
