as an introduction to our Box Study, Mr. Carl Sudduth from Prystup Packaging Products stopped by to discuss what Prystup Packaging does. Prystup Packaging is located right here in Livingston, in the Industrial Park. "Prystup Packaging sells almost exclusively to the following industry groups: food and beverage, health and beauty, over-the-counter pharmaceutical, and other shelf goods (both perishable and non-perishable, frozen and non-frozen)."

Mr. Carl showed us a sheet of the paper used to make some of their boxes and we talked about what paper is made of.

then Mr. Carl showed us what a box looks like after printing but before it is cut.

he informed us of the 4 color system.
the 4 colors he is pointing to made all of the colors you see on the sheet!

he also showed us some very familiar boxes made by Prystup Packaging that we would see on the grocery store shelves!

Quaker Oatmeal Cookies

Nature Valley Granola Bars
(this one is printed bilingual)

Dunkaroos

Grandma's Cookies

Thermacare Heat Wraps

Gatorade

and Prystup Packaging produces 90% of Tabasco's boxes in English, German, and Dutch!

Prystup Packaging also prints the codes and coupons inside the box.

Mr. Carl also demonstrated how the box is folded in order to be glued.

thank you to Mr. Carl and Prystup Packaging for taking time out of your busy schedules to teach us about box production. so proud to have such an important company as part of our small community!

in case you ever want to know if the box you just purchased was made right here in Livingston, here is a picture of Prystup Packaging's logo :D

we also had a very special visit from Dr. Morse's class who presented on different animals and insects.

here are some facts we learned from our visitors:

tiger- UWA's mascot, the biggest cat which can be up to 11 ft long and weigh 600 lbs, is a good swimmer and prefers to be alone

cat- see's grass as red not green and has front retractable claws

house fly- has 2 wings and is faster than a hummingbird

ladybug- has 6 legs, 2 sets of wings, sticky feet for climbing, can live for 9 months, and has strong jaws

cow- a male is a bull, a baby is a calf, can weigh 400-1600 lbs, has 32 teeth, and can live for 25 years

we also walked over to Bibb Graves yesterday afternoon in our springtime weather to practice with the UWA Choir for the Christmas Concert Friday. :)

If you haven't done so already, you may check out the pants and skirts today. You will sign for them when you pick them up and sign again when you return them Monday. The bow ties for the boys and ribbons for the girls haven’t come in yet, but Ms. Annie will get them to you by Friday.

This is the schedule for Friday night. Please print this out, because there is going to be a lot going on and a ton of people there, so you need to make sure your child is in the right place at the right time.

The children listed below will have a part on the stage in the first half of the concert right before intermission. The following students need to meet me in Bibb Graves Room 109 at 6:50 p.m. It is the classroom to the left of the auditorium when you walk in the front door, on the left side of the hall. You will not have to worry about them again until after they perform in the second half. Ms. Annie will have them during the first half back stage, during intermission, and the beginning of the second half.

Cooper, Tripp, Miles, Maddox, Grayson, Rob
Ella, Bailey, Kaitlyn T., Kaitlyn A., Kairi, Kaylen, Rebecca, Kayla
Maggie Mae, JuJu, Kinsley

The other children will need to meet us at the beginning of intermission in Bibb Graves Room 109. Please only send one adult to bring the child to us. The entire Campus School will sing together with the choir at the beginning of the second half of the concert. After that we will quietly escort them to the lobby. If you are leaving after that, you may get your child and leave then. If you are not, please send only one adult to come to the lobby to get your child at that time to go back to your seat so that there aren’t a lot of people getting up at once. The teachers will not be responsible for the kids after they perform. A parent must get them in the lobby immediately after the performance whether the child is staying for the rest of the concert or going home.

As a reminder of what else the kids need to wear:

BOYS- We are ordering their pants and a bow tie, and once they are in, we will get them to you. These will be Campus School property and will need to be returned back to the school Monday after the concert. With the black pants and bow tie we are providing, the boys will need to wear a white button up shirt tucked in, a dark belt, and dress shoes of any kind. They cannot wear any type of running or play shoes.

GIRLS- We are ordering their skirts and ribbon for their hair, and once they are in, we will get them to you.  These will be Campus School property and will need to be returned back to the school Monday after the concert.  With the black skirt and red ribbon in their hair that we are providing, the girls will need to wear a white button up shirt tucked in, white tights/stockings, and dress shoes. They cannot wear any type of running or play shoes.

a few other announcements:

- Ms. Annie is taking the clothes donated to the Wesley House tomorrow. If anyone has any hangers you can bring, we are still in need of some!

- We are studying boxes as you know, and we are going to be making a city of boxes. If you have any boxes at home to send to school this week, we would appreciate it!

- you can still sign up for Youth Basketball Thursday from 4-6 at the Livingston Civic Center for ages 5-12. Registration is $35.

we have so much going on so please do not hesitate to contact anyone here at school if you have any questions :)
