Wednesday...in between dance and gymnastics, we practiced our #3's.
we also worked on our scissor skills and number order by completing number order recycle puzzles.
we read The Lorax and discussed the importance of not cutting down all of our trees, planting new trees, and the effects of smog.
thanks, Conner, for sharing your book with us!
"Unless someone like you...cares a whole awful lot...nothing is going to get better...It's not."
Long before saving the earth became a global concern, Dr. Seuss, speaking through his character the Lorax, warned against mindless progress and the danger it posed to the earth's natural beauty. "
Thursday...we practiced writing 3's in the salt tray before practicing our end of the year program with Ms. Poole.
we also practiced our scissor skills and patterning with a recycling themed pattern page.
found this fun interactive recycling sorting game, Recycling Roundup on National Geographic Kids!
we also made a map of the school which we will be using next week. stay tuned!
we are collecting recycle symbols for the collage below the students have started decorating. please send any clean items with the recycling symbol to school. we are on the lookout each day!
and here's our buddy, Tripp, lifting weights :)))
we read Radio Man which talked about Gila monsters and their scales which turned into a student-lead lesson and the discussion between lizard scales and weight scales. love teachable moments!
"Diego and his family are migrant farmers who move from state to state picking fruits and vegetables. Each day brings a new experience--a different place, a different crop, and different people to meet. But no matter where Diego goes, his radio goes with him--it helps him to learn about the places he's going and to keep in touch with the people he meets along the way. "
so we researched National Geographic Kids to look at some different types and colors of scales.
