week of March 2 snapshot

one of my favorite weeks of the year! Read Across America!!!

this year I decided to do a  Dr. Seuss author study.

we read Green Eggs and Ham and watched online

we had a lot of fun making UWACS K5 Does Not Like Green Eggs and Ham! class book

we continued our study with watching the biography of Theodor Geisel
(I had to monitor some of the parts of this but majority was ok)

we read The Cat in the Hat
and the students journal writing was, Would you like the Cat in the Hat to come to your house?

then we had some yummy fun with Goldfish Graphing!!!

then we read The Foot Book, traced and measured our feet.

we also made a timeline of some of Dr. Seuss' books!

the weather did not allow us to finish with the rest of the fun activities I had planned :(

in limited centers, we built towers to see how high they could balance them like the Cat in the Hat....

in dramatic play, looked at Dr. Seuss books and used dress-up clothes and props to dress like their favorite characters.

smartboard...

in discovery, students used fish (One Fish, Two Fish) cookie cutters and red and blue play-dough,
people (In a People House) cookie cutters and play-dough...

in math,  Dr. Seuss cards 1-20, Horton’s Maze, and The Lorax Maze.

journal writings:

what time do you get up in the morning?

do you own a collection of some sort?

if you could collect anything at all, what would it be?

list 5 things you are thankful for.

a special thank you to the parents, athletes, and other volunteers who took time to come read and play with our students. we enjoy each second spent with you!
