week of February 9 snapshot

I have a lot of posting to do but we haven't had a spare moment it seems for me to sit down and post.
so, here is our snapshot from several weeks ago. yikes!

in social studies, we discussed winter clothing. for example, what clothes do we wear in winter? why? we recalled hibernating animals use fat to stay warm while they hibernate or are in torpor and discovered we use clothing for the same purpose. we also discussed how past and present clothing differ and looked at pictures. the boys really got a kick out of young boys wearing dresses. and the girls got a kick out of the young girls wearing ONLY dresses and not shorts and pants. we learned a lot by observing pictures from the past. we also discovered how people make clothes, how people in the past made clothes vs how we make clothes now. we discussed where we get our clothes now and how we would have gotten our clothes in the past.
