Monday and Tuesday's snapshot

we began the morning practicing the correct formation of #3.

question of the day:

we also played Paper Towel Rap. each student used "reused" a paper towel roll as a microphone.
we sang several songs but here is the Itsy Bitsy Spider concert.

then we played Find the Letter Sound.
the students would listen to the beginning sound I was saying and then find an object in the classroom that began with that sound.

we also watched Jimmy Fallon and the Roots sing "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen with Idina Menzel using classroom objects and instruments. we noticed that blocks were being used! and here's a list of the instruments used:

Jimmy Fallon - toy blocks, bass drum, Casio keyboard
Idina Menzel - triangle
Questlove - kazoo, jingle sticks
Mark Kelley - kazoo
Kamal Gray - xylophone
James Poyser - melodica
Luke - ukulele
Tuba Gooding Jr. - lemon shaker
Frank Knuckles - bongos
Black Thought -- tambourine, chimes

fun fact: the LIG blocks stand for Let It Go. :D

we cut our paper towel roll microphones into two pieces and will be recycling them into bunnies this week!

during after school, we took the donated bottles outside to the playground. each student filled a bottle 1/2 way with rocks and we will be using them to create a recycled bottle bowling game. :)

yesterday, the students practiced 3's on the smartboard. each writing sample was printed and will be placed in portfolios.

we continued working on our recycled bunnies. the students decided what to use for eyes, noses, and mouths, what color to use for the ears, to either free-cut the ears or cut out traced ears, and where to glue everything. loved how unique they turned out!

we went out for playground time yesterday afternoon...and never came back in!
the weather was beautiful and we were all having such a good time!
we even ate snack at the picnic tables!

then Ms. Brooke and I did a lil facepainting :D
