lima bean pumpkins

This takes a little bit of preparation but it's worth it! A work study spraypainted some lima beans orange, some brown, and some green. I used the same pumpkin clip art I had used all week and blew it up. Then the students got busy gluing!

Slimy Science!

Dr. Brown, a UWA professor, stopped by today to do an experiment with us. We made slime! Ick! All you need is glue, Borax detergent, food coloring, and water.

1. Fill one small cup with a spoonful of Borax, stir, and set aside.
2. Fill another small cup with 1 inch of glue.
3. Add three T. of water to the glue and stir.
4. Add a few drops of food coloring and stir.
5. Add one T. of the Borax solution from step 1 and stir well.
6. Let sit about 30 seconds. Pull the slime off of the spoon and play! If there is any excess water, pour it off.

Fall Festival!!!

Lots to catch up on! I was out the end of last week since my sitter was out of town. We had a wonderful Fall Festival last week! Here are my little trick-or-treaters:

After our special visitor, we practiced our cutting skills and then our pasting skills by using the paper we cut up to make an acorn!

Officer Lebrun visited us today to talk about Halloween safety. He reminded us not to talk to or leave with strangers, not to eat candy that isn't wrapped, to use a flashlight so we would be visible, and most importantly-call 911 for emergencies!

pumpkin suncatchers

Yesterday we created pumpkin suncatchers which came from Muffin Tin Mom. I searched for black and white pumpkin clip art and blew the image up on the copier. Then I traced the pumpkins and cut them out of black construction paper. I cut  rectangle shaped pieces of contact paper and the students stuck on orange and yellow pieces. You can really use whatever colors you would like but that's what I had available.

 Stick the contact paper to the construction paper and you have a festive suncatcher!
