this week's snapshot

we focused on the letter Ss all week.
we learned the correct formation...

and fingerpainted...

and wrote in our rice tray.

we had more pictures of buildings that were shared with us!

we sang "This is the Way" with carpenter terms (pound a nail, saw some wood...)

and we went on a shape hunt in the classroom.
we noticed that our doors are rectangles and the window is a square.

questions of the day:

we have focused on the people needed to build buildings this week in our discussions. for example, architect, engineer, electrician, plumber, mason, carpenter, painter

we read Build It From A to Z, Building a House, and Buildings, Buildings, Buildings.

"How do you build a building? You start with a hole in the ground...and then work up!
Visit a work site and see the people, tools, materials, and machines that are needed for every new building."

"A machine digs a big hole. A cement mixer pours cement. Carpenters put up walls. Bricklayers, electricians, plumbers, and painters do their part.  Follow each step and before our eyes a house is built."

"From the most impressive skyscraper to the tiniest hut, every building is built for a reason."

***Ms. Jaysa will not be here tomorrow, Friday, January 24, 2014. Have a great weekend!***
