today's snapshot

This morning I was off campus visiting another Pre-K program but Miss Jenna kept our schedule.
The students practiced making Z's using play-doh, read Trees, Trees, Trees and discussed seed, seedling, and sapling, and estimated how tall they think they are now. We will measure tomorrow to see how close their estimations are!

The students also acted out the poem Come Play With Me. One student was a pretend tree while children were invited to come stand by the tree.

One little child climbing in a tree,
Playing by herself, but she didn't want to be.
So she called for a friend, over land and sea;
{name}, come play with me,
And along came {name} to climb in her tree.

This afternoon we celebrated our friend Ella's birthday who is in Ms. Brooke's room and who is my niece. :)

In centers this afternoon, we pulled out the spring sensory tub,
wrote Z's in shaving cream,

and worked on our plant journals.

today's snapshot

this morning we learned how to write the letter Zz the correct way.

and we put together some flower number order puzzles

spring has sprung!

we also talked about we were born a very small baby and we change and grow taller. we discussed how when trees are planted and when they grow from seeds, they are small. and they grow taller every year like they do. we brainstormed other ways trees change. then each student got to estimate how tall they thought they were when they were born and then we measured.

I asked moms to let me know what their lengths were and you will see further down what we did with that information.

then we played a game called Counting Calisthenics where the students had to follow a 2, 3, and four step dance.

for example, when I said one, they would raise their hands...
two, lower their hands...
three, hands on their shoulders...
and four, hands on their hips.
we also watched another version of Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom that got them all up and dancing. it was too fun!

we are also working on completing our recycling bulletin board. the students helped by cutting out border from magazine pages. more to come when that project is completed!

and here we are with the actual birth measurements and seeing how close our estimations were.

we also worked on making shapes in the geoboard center,

read some books in the reading center, (Bennett visited with us today :) )

and started our plant journals.
