We talked about weather to start off our Spring has Sprung unit.
We especially enjoyed watching Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs read aloud and then comparing real weather and fantasy weather.
The students also looked forward to Cloudy with a Chance of Jellybeans Subtraction each day!
We made our annual field trip over to see Carol Merrill and the students ate snack
and enjoyed the bouncy racer and obstacle course, as always!!!
We collected 9 boxes of donations for the UWA Food Bank to help our college student family in need!!! Thank you!!! Dr. Robinson was so very appreciative and I assured him that we would do another food drive in the future to help keep the shelves stocked. We couldn't have accomplished this wonderful food drive and taught our students and your children the joy of giving to others without your generosity, so thank you!!!
One of my favorite times of the year...building a leprechaun trap time!!!
The students took the lead, I wrote down their ideas for them, and they started building!!!
They thought maybe some shiny gold coins would be enticing, as well.
Thanks to Ms. Kim for snapping these photos since I couldn't be here :(
I always love to see their faces when they walk in.
Bennett was very excited to come to school to see if they trapped him or not!
Looks like the spied some evidence the leprechaun had been by...
He left them some goodies hidden amongst the mess!!!
And some little green footprints all around the room, too!!!
He left the word HA in the oobleck!!!
And "can't catch me" in sprinkles.
Looks like someone needs to work on his letter formation, too. ;)
Just look at this mess!!!
And it wouldn't be a holiday without some poop from Ms. Jaysa...leprechaun poop, that is!!!
The students had SWAP (Stations With Awesome People) with Dr. Minear's students Thursday. Thanks again to Ms. Kim for snapping pics for me in my absence.
They learned that you can eat every part of some plants. They read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle and matched different parts of a plant/flower. They observed how roots and stems help water get to the rest of the plant, also.
The students also went on a spring scavenger hunt! They had a paper with a variety of things to find. They had to count, observe, and discover while they collected items on our lists.
They students did their Morning Message to figure out their clues for their Cloud Lesson on Thursday. They read It Looked Like Spilt Milk and then created their own clouds using a variety of materials.
When I returned back to work on Monday, we had to do one of my favorite St. Patrick's Day activities...a guided drawing leprechaun! I just love how each one turn out unique!
We also did a hidden picture 100 chart for Easter this week.
Ms. Kim bought us an awesome Easter egg cookie decorating kit and the students had a blast making their own unique cookie.
We had our annual Egg Hunt Wednesday and thanks to some very special volunteers, it was perfect.
And they're off!!!
Hoppy Egg Day from the CS Kindergartners!!!
We also had hippity hoppity good time sorting bunny mallows by color and then graphing them.
Of course the best part is always eating them. :D
Thursday morning, we had our annual Egg Day party.
Bennett had me buy these fresh flowers from the grocery store
and arrange them to bring to the Egg Party. :)
And a special visitor hopped by!!!
The students also learned to draw a bunny rabbit with guided drawing.
